Sorry, No Vacancy

A few weeks ago I started noticing a couple of birds hanging out by the front door. I really didn't see what they were up to until one day when I opened the door and the birds flew away. I noticed a lot of debris on the front step...twigs, weeds, grass...So, I have a wreath on my door, and the birds had been househunting! They were starting to build a nest. Well, I took out the couple of pieces that were there and took Wyatt to school. By the end of the day, they had started up again, and it actually looked like a sweet setup. I felt awful, but, come on, I couldn't have a real bird's nest on my front door...I took the wreath and hid it. The next morning I noticed the same birds hanging around. When I opened my front door...No kidding...there stood that little bird with a twig in it's mouth! I couldn't believe it! He couldn't either...Where the heck's my house!!!

This is just a short drive from our house. There is not a huge area for little kids, but we enjoyed a short exploration and a picnic lunch.

Here Fishy, Fishy!

Travis and the boys have started fishing this last month. There are some beautiful places along the Snake River. Both Wyatt and Garrett have become pretty proficient in casting out and reeling in, but still haven't caught anything.

Tough Guy and a Loose Tooth

We went on a Sunday drive a few weeks back...it was a beautiful day. Travis and Wyatt were exploring a new place hoping to find a good fishing hole. They started hiking around when Garrett woke up from his nap. The boys each found a hiking stick and they were fighting every bad bush and tree there. When it was time to go back to the truck the boys went off up the hill...they were supposed to be on the road with us. We told Wyatt to drop the stick, and that's when he fell down and stood up holding his eye. I think Travis made it up the hill in about 2 big leaps, that's a pretty tricky feat when your heart has stopped!

After examination, we found that Wyatt's eye was intact. We raced to the river for some cold water. Wyatt was so very lucky that he did not poke his eye out. He is well and has no repercussions from this incidence. I hope that he will remember the lesson of obedience. If he and Garrett had continued on their journey, they would have come upon a cliff with rocks at the bottom that they could not have seen, but Travis and I saw.

How grateful I am for a loving Father in Heaven that can see dangers ahead and warn us, if we but listen.

On a happy note, the Tooth Fairy has been busy at our house with Wyatt's 4th loose tooth!

Easter Eggs and Birthday Cake

This was Alyssa's first Easter...She had a lot of fun with the plastic eggs, but she wasn't quite sure what to do with the candy!

Happy Birthday!

This year Garrett celebrated his 4th birthday on Easter Sunday. He was so excited that the Easter Bunny came on the same day as his birthday party with 2 of his best friends, Micah and Gage. The kids all chose a super hero costume from our huge collection. They flung spiderman discs at the Villians, played duck-duck-goose, and easter egg bowling. It was a lot of fun.

At first Garrett wanted a Captain Rex cake, but at the last minute he chose Spiderman...

King Benjamin and his Faithful Followers

In the Book of Mormon you can read the story about King Benjamin. He was a very righteous man who spent time working for his people. He gathered his people to counsel them, but there were so many people that they had to build a tower so that his voice could be carried far...The people were so happy to hear his words that they pitched tents and stayed for more counsel in the morning. This was the first General Conference. After talking about King Benjamin during FHE, we decided to build our own special tent to sit in during General Conference. It was a lot of fun and a very successful first hour! The Primary Presidency handed out a Conference packet with fun things to do to stay busy. I am not sure how much the kids picked up, but it was a positive experience that I hope they will remember.

One of the activities was to color the tie of the speaker and their hair. Now, a lot of these men were bald or to use the term that Garrett and Wyatt coined, "half-bald." So, that was the game to see who was bald, 'half-bald', or who had hair! Silly boys!
