Wilson Springs Nature Center

Wyatt and I went to this awesome nature center for his 2nd Grade field trip. It was such a fun day. We went on a 3/4 mile nature walk around the ponds. Look at all of the neat things that we saw...We couldn't get a good picture of the Red-Winged Blackbirds, but their were baby ducks everywhere.

....and spider-webs, and bugs, and bugs, and bugs!

The kids followed our tourguide down through the marshes looking for bug traps...Most of the parents stayed on the path.

The kids also searched through the grasses for bugs and they found this nest.

When the bug hunt was over, our tourguide let the kids run to the climbing tree. Oh my goodness! What a fun climb! There were kids everywhere! Too funny...If you click on the picture you can zoom in to find Wyatt. He is on the top right side of the tree with a red hat.

We also went fishing...That was insane. I didn't have time to take pictures because I was too busy untangling lines. There was a lot of cross-fishing going on with 27 kids trying to catch the same fish! 4 kids got lucky using a different colored bait...Cheaters!!

We love Wyatt's teacher! She has done an amazing job this year. Thanks, Mrs B!

Getting Ready...

I just arranged our hotels for our move to Oregon. We have been waiting soooo long for this move. We often wondered if we would ever really make it to Oregon. Now, here we are packing and making preparations. We will be staying in Hillsboro...I am looking forward to the real farmer's markets, the zoo, and super close shopping, and best of all...No Walmart! No offense to those of you who really love Walmart. It has been our only store for tooooooo long!
We are so excited to start a new phase in this adventure, but it will be so hard to leave a good friends!

Happy Mother's Day!

Garrett had a Mother's Day Social at his preschool last Friday. He was so excited about his gift. They had all planted seeds in decorated pop bottles for the moms. We have been watering it and this morning we had a surprise! There were 2 little sprouts coming up. Garrett looked at me and said, "This is my gift to you."
I guess that was one of those 'moments' that President Thomas S Monson was talking about when he said that we have to find joy in the moments.

I love great mom moments!

ps. So after we came home from the Zoo...There were 3 sprouts!

Discovery Art Show

Garrett is attending an awesome preschool this year provided through the Rec Center. He has 2 wonderful teachers and gets to go with his best friend! Last week was the Art Show where the kids could display all the fun things that they have been making...
It was so fun to see how proud Garrett was of all his work. Here is a sampling of his art...

While Dad's Away...

Travis has been away for a total of 5 weeks with training for his new job promotion. He spent 3 weeks in Omaha, NE, and the other 2 weeks in Durham, NC. He had to take 2 pretty intense classes and pass the exam at the end of each. We are so proud of his hard work. He is finally home and training is complete! Now we wait for the movers and we are off to Oregon!

While it is no fun having to say goodbye to dad again and again, we were able to find some fun activites to help pass the time like fun FHE projects, going to
Lowe's Build and Grow workshop for kids, and going to the Zoo with Nanny.

This is a FHE project. Garrett and Alyssa painted treasure boxes, and Wyatt painted a birdhouse.

Garrett is serious about his work...

Wyatt is proud as can be with his work...

And, Alyssa, well she was a little distracted with her work...

I love this little handprint I found while cleaning up...Thank goodness for washable paints!
