First Day of 1st Grade

1st grade...New Teacher...Same Friends...School lunch...Recess...All-Day School...YIKES!!

Our wonderful (not!) school district has chosen to do their back to school night AFTER the first day of school so, needlesstosay, the first day was a complete madhouse! We had to first find Wyatt's name on 1 of 4 lists of students; next, we had to find the classroom in the midst of all of the other confused parents; then after dropping Wyatt off, Garrett, Lissy, and I had to make our way to the lunch room to get Wyatt a pass and he still came home hungry because he didn't know how it all worked. I was one frazzled mom by the end of that morning. And that was just the morning.

So, at 2:05 I get a phone call from Wyatt's school, "Um, Mrs Golding, school let out at 1:30 today and I have your son here in the office." WHAT???!!! I could not believe it! A note would have helped, or a big sign on the front doors or some clue that I was supposed to pick up my son early. I was not the only parent oblivious to the early out day. The lobby was full of kids! What a joke!

Even after such a hectic day, Wyatt seemed to like his teacher and he is enjoyed seeing all of his old friends. And, we made a special trip to Boise to see the new Star Wars movie, which the boys loved!

I take Wyatt to school at 8:00am every morning because I refuse to make him catch the 6:45am bus for school that starts at 8:30am. Come on the kid is only 6-years-old, and he is NOT an early riser! He is now riding the bus home, well in 2 weeks he has only riden it home on 2 different occasions. But the opportunity is there to ride the bus home.

As for school lunch, there is nothing that I could make that would be better than school lunch. I don't get it either, but at least he is eating something.
