Random Acts of Kindness

Last night we went out to eat for Travis' birthday at Smoky Mountain Pizza. We really like the food, and we love Kids-Eat-Free Tuesdays! We were sitting next to a family having a little birthday party for their 5-year-old. While we were eating one of the other patrons went over, on her way out, and wished the boy a happy birthday and handed him a 5-dollar-bill. I thought that was so cool. How often do you see people doing nice things for others?
So, the little boy turned to Garrett and offered him some birthday cake. Garrett didn't really know how to accept the kindness. But, the mother handed us a huge plate of G.I. Joe birthday cake and we all laughed as the boy opened his gift and played with it!
What a fun night! Travis got some birthday cake and my boys got a great lesson in Random Acts of Kindness!

I just LOVE hearing of instances like this!
Just shortly after Ian was diagnosed with cancer, we were in WalMart doing some shopping. Ian had lost his hair by then and we had him in a wagon...well as we were shopping, a woman I had never met, stopped me and asked me how Ian was. I briefly told her that he had cancer but that he was going to be fine. She took my hand and placed close to $100 into my hand and told me she wanted us to have the money and that she hoped all would be well. I can't begin to tell you how much her act of kindness meant to me. I have often thought of her and wished that I could again thank her for her kindness and generosity. You see Mike and I were getting a little overwhelmed with all the extra expenses... ie gas (we were traveling back and forth to Boise and a couple trips to SLC, when gas was close to $4 a gallon) No doubt Heavenly Father had heard our prayers and this amazing women followed the promptings of the Spirit.
Thank you for sharing of your experience. I'm convinced that most people are genuinely good and perhaps we all need to show an increase of love and kindness!
