We were so excited to make it to Oregon...It was a beautiful ride along the Columbia River...I took a lot of the same pictures...hee, hee! It was a typical day, from what we have experienced, overcast and humid in the morning; sunny and blazing hot in the afternoon.
We were introduced to Portland Traffic...Didn't know that we would be going through Downtown during rush-hour traffic...Poor Garrett had to pee so bad. We kept telling him, "Just 5 more minutes." It took a little longer than that...the poor kid barely made it. We were so afraid to get off of the Mapquest route...We later purchased a TomTom GPS and boy, do we love our Tommy Boy!
We were especially happy to see some familiar faces when we arrived in Portland, Uncle Pete, Aunt Keri, and Jack. Pete introduced us to MAX the public transit train system. We rode into downtown, a.k.a. PDX. We saw A LOT of interesting things...And, ate lunch from the food carts...It was cheap and sooooooo delicious!! We walked through the Rose Festival Goings-on, and even got a show from a silver man...It reminded me of being on the plaza in Portugal. We were hoping to tour the Navy boats....sorry, I don't know what the proper name is...But, they only had the Coast Guard set-up. The Waterfront was awesome...We are living on the west side of the Willamette River...We walked and walked all over Downtown...That night I bought a sit and stand stroller for the little guys! Thanks, Keri and Pete, for a memorable day in Portland!
We visited the Portland LDS Temple. The grounds are amazing...temple flowers are always perfect, but this was like an enchanted forest garden with fountains and paths and a reflecting pool and huge trees. Now that we know our way around a little better, it's fun to spot the temple spires above the trees from the freeway.
The kids love this park...
This was our first trip to the ocean. We went to Cannon Beach. It was beautiful! But, it was sooooo windy and cold! The kids didn't care...Alyssa ran and ran and ran; Garrett wanted to make a sand castle; and Wyatt was searching for shark teeth...he was not successful.

What great pictures! So happy to hear you made it safe and are enjoying Oregon. No doubt you are missed a great deal in Mt Home. I don't think it's ever easy to leave good friends and a familiar setting. The kids are so cute and growing up so fast! Can't wait to see more pics of your adventures and discoveries!
Glad you getting settled. I think Oregon is so beautiful. We are hoping to vacation there next summer. I love the tide pools.
This made me sad all over again and a little jealous too, Orgen looks like so much fun, with so much to do.
