Poetry Night

We got to enjoy a night of poetry performed by Wyatt's 3rd Grade class. He worked so hard on his poems learning the different types and composing...His teacher published a book for each student with their collections. During their Poetry Night, each student chose a couple of original poems to read to family and friends. It was a great night. I really appreciated all that Rock Creek Elementary did to help each child learn and grow.

Here are a few of my favorite poems composed by Wyatt:

-- Diamante poem

Wild
Dirty, active
Growling, prancing, biting
Lion, tiger, tabby, Persian
Sleeping, fetching, purring
Lazy, clean
Tame

-- Limerick poem

The Bee

There once was a bee,
Who lived in a tree.
He loved all the flowers,
But hated all the showers.
So he flew to Hawaii to be free.

My Family Tree

The trunk of the tree is my mom.
Who is smart.
And can sew.
And loves flowers.

The bark of the tree is my dad.
Who is strong.
And can ride horses.
And loves to go camping.

The branches of the tree are my brother and sister.
Who are fun to play with.
And can buid Legos, be creative, and run and jump.
And love cereal.

My family tree is a pine tree.
As tall and thick as can be!

And, Garrett worked hard in Kindergarten to compose a few poems. Here is just one of them:

My Dad

My Dad
My Dad is cool
I like my Dad
Dad, Dad, Dad
He goes on vacations with me.
I like him!
